Interview with Jim Foley
Xingu was one of the short films I had the opportunity to see mid-day Saturday. This was a hilarious short film based on a short story by Edith Wharton, who has seen some of her other work become the basis of the 1993 Martin Scorsese film The Age of Innocence starring Daniel Day-Lewis. The story deals with a group of intellectuals who are undone by an author and a member of their group who they thought was less intelligent. It’s a brilliant satire of those groups and people who think they’re more intelligent than the rest of us, but really have no clue.
On Friday night, prior to watching the film, I had the opportunity to speak with one of the stars of this short, Jim Foley. By day Foley works for IBM, but here he portrays a character who runs an art gallery, and is one of the characters duped by the mystery of Xingu. I had the opportunity to sit down with Jim Foley for an interview about his involvement in the production of Xingu.
