Hidden Gems: December 2015
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
Ahhh... I love hidden gems. Why? Because VH: Final Cut is the perfect example of an amazing little game that gets overwhelmed by the heavy hitting game releases, especially around the Holidays. I call this the "perfect" example because starting out, the game is rough around the edges, incredibly quirky and a bit strange. That being said, it's one of those rare titles that as soon as you get swept up in the story, the voice acting, the incredible music and atmosphere, you wonder how you ever lived without such a game. This is a HUGE adventure at a discount price and an action RPG that is unlike anything out there, but does have a touch of Diablo-esque blood. I loved the game and I think you will too. BAM!
Mordheim: City of the Damned
Now here's a game that completely flew under the radar for most but comes out swinging hard. Want a fast paced, in your face, hack n slash romp? Better go play Devil May Cry. This is a completely hardcore, old school, turn based combat in a familar world. It's completely unforgiving and obtuse in a lot of ways but just like most hidden gems we feature, this one grows on you the more you play. The gorgeous graphics and atmosphere completely suck you in and whether you want to dive into skirmishes, the meaty campaign and just nerd out on stats, this game is for you. The chicks dig it too :)
