Full Motion Video (FMV) Games.. in 2015?
So... FMV. Love it? Hate it? It doesn't matter. We have fond memories of the mid and late 90s when FMV was all the rage. 7th Guest, The 11th Hour, Phantasma.. well, let's not mention that last one. Regardless, anyone who's been PC gaming for a while probably has fond (or not) memories of that short, golden era when people went nuts over FMV. Well now, you can live those again. MISSING: An Interfactive Thriller Episode 1 is here and it's a sweet little distraction. It's available for a discount price and honestly, it's well worth it with some sweet high res clips and even better yet, solid old school style puzzle and action sequences.
We've come a long way from those muddy, 320x200 or 640x480 clips. This stuff looks fantastic and we can't wait to see what comes next. Along with MISSING, Tex Murphy in Tesla Effect is also high on our recommended play list. Whether a veteran or new to the series, check that out now.
FMV may or may not be here to stay but MISSING: An Interactive Thriller Episode I is a great start for what could become a fantastic series. Simple? Definitely. Brilliantly executed? Even more so. It's a little nibble of old and new with fantastic FMV sequences that make us think of the good ol' days but high resolution clips and solid gameplay is a win/win. We are keeping our eyes on this little gem.
